@Jagexfan Uncheck ” Remote Management ” and select and make sure to Check ” Screen Sharing “
Soo..it says that I have to turn Screen Sharing on..and I go into System Preferences, and it says it’s being controlled by the “Remote Management Service”. How do I fix this? (My bro messes wit mine)
@khoops66 Yeah you would use the one that you setup on the other machine to log into it. It will also depend on what folders you make available for that user as well.
for the name and password box is it the information for the computer being shared?
@CoreyLego1 i did it still doesnt work
yes it does use ichat
I only got this to work when another mac was on my wireless router!!! Just to let you know everyone it DOES NOT work long distances!!
I accidently figured this out its so cool! — get 2 macs, enable screen sharing on both, share both screens at the same time and there will be sharing windows infinitely inside each other… try it!
the host name can be found in System Preference, it’s actually the Computer Name so you will see a tab below it that says edit if you click on that if will show the same name as the host along with “.local” at the end of it.
How do i find the host name? i dont really get your answer below. Thanks
System Preferences click on the Edit button that is to the top left of your panel, and you will see Local Hostname
hey, i have 2 other macs and they are turned on but how do i find out the host name?
to access shared folders on your Dell I’m assuming your using Windows XP or Vista,. you can enable file sharing & select the folders you want to share or setup Map Network Drive example: \\server\share
As for Screen Sharing from Mac to Windows you can use cord.sourceforge[.]net it’s free or just google “Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2″ free as well.
Now Windows to Windows then or to Vista you can use “Windows Remote Assistance” to screen share.
do you know how to do it on a dell
sharing must be enabled on both computers for each to see the other. Also if he’s on a windows machine he would need to setup sharing on his end if not you will not see it.
I cant see any computers in my network. But my husband’s computer can see my computer. Can you help me?
thankss a lot!
im going to subscribe to you incase i have more questions.
I use ScreenFlow to do my video capture but you can use,.. iShowU or iShowU HD, Screenium, Screen Mimic, Snapz Pro X, basically any screen capture program.
this works great!
but i got a question?
how do you film your desktop like that.
i mean im on my iMac but i dont know how to film doing that.
can you please tell me? 5/5
Another thing that may cause the shared computers not to show up is when you enable “put computer to sleep when inactive” If you set it to never then you will rarely see it disappear but not everyone may want to go that route.
Ok. Got it. I had to turn on screen sharing on the other computer IMac..
Sometimes I have that problem with router and when I reboot it, it’s fine.
5:18 I don’t have a screen share button at that window.
Awesome tip. I will try the manual way.
sometimes a router can cause problems as well, I had that issue before with verizon, till i did a firmware update on the modem it self, then all has been fine since then. or sometimes just some ports need to be opened up.
nice tips, i sometimes have troubles screen sharing at certain locations, I thought maybe it was the router
